Good Move Toward Transparency

The City Commission took a step in the right direction toward transparency last night when they voted unanimously to have the city's check registers posted online. This will give citizens the opportunity to review every check the city writes. (This was an issue I addressed when running for mayor).

Wire transfers will not be online as they are a manual process. but they will still be listed on the over $5,000 report.

This is a very good decision.

Nice to see some positive postin on our new city government here. Electric City Web Bolg appears to have gone anti-governmental as they lately only post negative things and riducle everything the city government does.

ECW does a fine job and I can tell you from performing real world inspections and assessments, it's good to identify the good things in government when it happens and sustain that, and clearly and candidly identify what needs improvements. Over time, the improvements wil be sustained, but that's up to superior leadership and followership in the staff.
