Neighborhood Councils - Week of October 19, 2009

For the third time in a month, the Tribune has not published notice of the Neighborhood Council meetings in their Monday papers.

It's not like they don't get notice of them. Emails are sent to 3 people at the Tribune, one being a managing editor, and they still can't get it done. Oh sure, they'll print them on Tuesday when they've been notified of their blunder, but that doesn't help the councils who meet on a Monday.

Come on Trib. This is grassroots involvement. Get it together.

NC7 meets on Monday, and I can't help but think the lack of publicity about our meeting contributed to a lack of attendance.

All of the Councils are sponsoring the candidate forum that will be held this Wednesday, October 21. I am moderating, with the help of the GFHS Debate Squad. If you have a question that you would like to submit, please send it to me at aaron AT weissman DOT com. The Debate Squad will pick all questions that get asked, but I will put your submission in the pile. I will also make sure that all questions are anonymous.

Our neighborhood councils are very seldom paid attention too, on IMPORTANT issues, by the current city council and administration.

How do you perceive this and what would you suggest to make these important voices count?
