Power Rates Explained

I attended last night's City Commission work session and thought the presentation from Coleen Balzarini on the electrical rates was one of the most disjointed and confusing explanations I've ever heard.

After all is said and done, the city has lost at least $150,000 by going with SME instead of staying with Northwestern Energy.

Gregg was there as well and his thoughts are here.

Oh, by the way, I was very surprised. Tim Gregori was not present. Maybe that's why Coleen just didn't seem, to me anyway, confident in her presentation.

Jolley here

"city has lost at least $150,000"
No, that is what customers including the city would have paid NW. All this effort created no savings over staying with NW. What we lost is a hugh amount, by selling power for less than we paid. As Coleen said at the Jan. 08 ECP Board meeting,"A loss of 1.5 million, that's not bad for a start up business."
The business started in 2004. ECP has proven it is not a business the city should be in.
Buying power is easy. Buying power to sell is not. Easy if one doesn't care if we lose money.

Not bad for a start up business. What was that silly little ordinance about anyway?

Think of the good will this city government lost because of the ECP & SME coal plant stupidity.

Because of this arrogance that continues unchecked nothing will get done requiring public support.

Mr. Doyan, you were brought in for what? This is your watch now and money is flying out the door on this failed venture. As the chief administrator you need to go to the commission and say enough of this. End this now.

Thanks Mary for clarifying my remarks (-:

This commission (excluding Mary Jolley) do not have the taxpayer's interests at heart. They have failed to listen to warning and advice from their public, they are out of touch with the citizens and listen only to the likes of Tim Gregori (SME) whom has raped and divided this community with the boondoggle coal plant.
It is past time to clean our house of commissioners and city employees who no longer consider themselves answerable to the public.
Open up the SECRET BOX Mr. Doyon.....

Tim wasn't there because Tim knows everything in detail. This whole thing was engineered by and for Tim.

Tim is far to cowardly and conceited to be honest and face the consequences of his actions.

When the light of truth comes on watch the cockroaches flee.

Is it not a little strange that not one member of the ECP Board was at the commissioners work session presentation which showed the results of their leadership and recommendations?
