David, your comment trying to relate this event to what transpired in GF is not critical thought. If you recall Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley while under the best protection in the world. The point is, if someone is motivated, they will find the way.
Responsibility for your own life is your own. Subjects willing to delegate their safety to someone else often pay the price. Mr. Valois obviously takes his responsibility seriously. Someone looking to do harm would do so regardless of law.
All the more reason for a sane person to arm themselves today. There are thousands of people doing just that every day. They carry firearms with or without a government permit wherever they deem necessary, because their lives mean something to them and their loved ones. A call only they can make.
I am not advising against protecting yourself or a citizen carrying a weapon for self-defense -- but I see nothing wrong with preventing firearms being prohibited in city council meetings. Metal detectors to ensure that no one gets through, perhaps, so that we don't have "targeted" inspections of certain citizens.

Exactly. Which is why the police acted accordingly when someone tried to walk into our City Commission meeting a few weeks ago with a firearm.

Is it "sane" to break the law?
anon,
"because their lives mean something to them and their loved ones. A call only they can make."
If you are willing to delegate your safety to someone else, that's your call.
Enjoy your chains of bondage.
