No Recommendation

Unfortunately, the Great Falls Planning and Zoning Commission did not reach a recommendation for the City Commission regarding the proposed medical marijuana ordinance.

Options were:
1. Totally prohibit medical marijuana from being grown and dispensed in the city;
2. Extend the 90-day moratorium on the businesses for up to a year;
3. Pass an ordinance that would limit where medical marijuana businesses could operate in the city.

This issue will once again go before the City Commission on May 4.

Ah yes, the 'head in the sand' strategy learned from city staff? Dont' go to meetings or do ANYTHING
confrontational, it's 'too scary'....? That's NOT leadership. As the old saying says, 'Lead, follow or get out of the way' and A decision vital, as you can expect some form of litigation or pushback. I'm not a fan, but the legislature made the laws and that's they way it is for the moment.

As I read it, our planning commission did not even vote on ALL of the three proposals they were supposed to be looking at. How come?

They did not vote on all three because no member of the board Moved choice #1 forward.

And if you want the teachers to get a raise vote for the School levy. If not vote NO.
I'm voting NO.

So they (planning commission) decided to just avoid choice number one completely?

Now then we will see what our new city commission does. They should just move a motion to vote on each of the three choices and see what happens.

That of course would be far too simple and we will likely have another four hour, fruitless, meeting with the mayor complaining about missing his dinner every fifteen minutes!
