More Problems For The Sheriff

In today's paper, there is an article about the ongoing issues Sheriff Castle is having with his budget and the County Commissioners.

According to a report by KRTV, the sheriff may take legal action.

What happens with regard to this situation will effect all of us, not just those living outside of the city limits of Great Falls.

Commissioner Olson (and we can thank him for serving) said he was was a consensus builder. Now Commissioner Salina will have to take up that challenge and I wish
him the best, especially to bring the city and county governments closer together in cooperation, especially on annexation, which the city seems to have the 'upper hand' on.

Something is not very apparent to me with this sudden budget problem of the sheriff's department I would have thought that these major issues would have been addressed when the budgets were first being put together and not have something this major suddenly pop up half way thru the year. What am I missing here? It appears that both parties have missed the boat and let the taxpayer down.......
