City Wildlife Issues

NC#7 had a discussion at their September meeting pertaining to wildlife in their area, especially raccoons.

Thanks to Aaron Weissman, chair of NC#7 for sharing this information:

Friends;

Please find attached a memorandum from our City Manager and from FWP regarding nuisance animals in the city limits. The position of the city and FWP is clear; neither will assist Great Falls residents in dealing with small nuisance animals, both predatory and non-predatory. However, FWP will assist in removing large predatory animals such as lion and bear.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Isn't that a HOOT. My son sprains his knee in football practice because of a gopher hole, and there is not a thing anyone can do. Can't poison them, too many to trap and relocate, drowning them out and killing them is inhumane...

Squirrels are clogging up our eaves, and chewing up power lines...

Mind you I thing gophers and squirrels are cute, but they are becomeing a nuisence and the city needs to find away to tame the problem.

Why is it the city's responsibility? What ever happened to people taking care of things themselves? What about the smaller government that everyone talks about wanting, until something happens and the government needs to fix it? Pretty sad...
