So what's to discuss. If the city has nothing to hid then open up the records to the public as ordered by the courts!

If they are hiding something, then they are indeed in deep du du and will try hiding the truth as long as they can, at great public expense, of course.

There is currently no legal stay on the judge's order, so citizens have a right to the documents NOW.

There is no mention in his order as to city commission action or inaction in this matter. They have been duly notified and must now comply or be in "Contempt of Court" in some form or another.

Our Free Press - print and electronic - should all be there to watch the proceedings and see what moral leadership is displayed...

The City Commission can vote to appeal the judge's order.

If they do, we know it certainly isn't the first time they thumbed their noses at the citizens.

If they do vote to appeal, I won't be surprised.

If this group would spend half the amount of energy on ensuring we have basic services, a financially sound city, being honest, open, and exhibiting intelligent, quality leadership as they do hiding, dodging, stone-walling, corrupting and manipulating everything around them, we'd all be better off.

Have the "special meeting", it's only smoke-and-mirrors for the public. They have decided and they will continue behaving as they always have.

Tuesday Julyy 22, 2008: City Hall lifts the veil of secrecy.

The secrecy over public documents was broken and our citizen constitutional rights finally bore fruit today. The Citizens for Clean Energy (CCE, inc.) and MEIC were given access to most of the previously requested documents. Today was a day of celebration for open government and citizen rights.
