apparently, I am not very proficient in typing. The third sentence should read "I look forward to hearing YOUR input ..."

The police department has been very 'silent'in regards to offering opinions to the commission to focus funds on primary city duties, like law enforcement, not to promote more ECP losses and millions 'shot away' on the Highwood debacle. The only thing the police have done is to facilitate the city commission's (not Commmissioner Jolley) intimidation of the citizenry with time limits and undercover cops.

Police at the administrative level serve the government first, not the people.

Anon 7/14:

What would you have Chief Grove do? Try to overrule our elected reps on a matter of policy? It is his job to execute the policy given him by the civilian authority, not to be part of the debate.

For one, I think that Chief Grove is in a tough position here. He has to cut two FTEs, and is being forced to kill programs that on the long term decrease crime in our community. Did you know that his master's thesis was on the effectiveness of the LRE program? And now, it is gone.

That is the saddest part of this budget. Killing DARE and LRE almost guarantee a crime spike in our community ten years from now.

I'd be more concerned about the crime spike we're experiencing right now. I'm referring to the one inside City Hall, and that includes Grove.
